In 2015, Dr. Chu and the Chu Vision Foundation joined an international delegation of volunteer ophthalmologists and ophthalmic technicians who traveled to Yangon Eye Hospital to present the Myanmar Eye Meeting, presented by Hawaiian Eye Foundation.

This Two For Two™ initiative involved Dr. Chu providing volunteer service in the form of lectures, patient consultations, and live surgery mentoring for the Burmese ophthalmologists, whose access to training and technology has been limited due to government by a military dictatorship between 1962 and 2010.

Since 1984, the non-profit Hawaiian Eye Foundation has been dedicated to promoting the preservation, restoration, and improvement of vision for people of the Pacific Basin through charitable service, education, and research programs.
